Los Angeles Fire Department delivered a CERT class in Portuguese!   Tuesday, April 18, 2017 LAFD concluded an additional CERT LEVEL I training in Battalion 9 – at Fire Station 59 thanks to Firefighter Jensen.

This class was a little different than most. It was inspired by the efforts and achievements of the Los Angeles Fire Department, working with the Korean and Latino communities in Los Angeles through its Community Emergency Response Team volunteer program, this specific class was aimed to help Portuguese speakers learn how to be prepared for an emergency.  A Portuguese bilingual class benefits not only Brazilians, but also other lusophone immigrants from Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe.   There are close to 300 million Portuguese speakers in the world today.

Great job Battalion 9!
