LA Films Active Shooter Training for People with Disabilities

December 15, 2017

The City of Los Angeles along with over 20 actors (people with real disabilities) took a bold step in filming an instructional Run, Hide, Fight video for people with Disabilities and Others with Access and Functional Needs (DAFN).

The video implemented guidance created by a working group in California lead by Vance Taylor of CalOES. The City of LA, took that information a step further and created a video to show folks what those practices actually look like. The video is narrated by LAPD Deputy Chief Grimala and was developed in partnership between the Emergency Management Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Department of Disabilities and the awesome folks from the Information Technology Agency (LA CityView 35).

A drone was used in part of the filming which will add great views to the video! When true collaboration takes place great things happen! Video was the brain child of Mona Curry and Sgt. Kyle Campbell but, could not have been possible without all of our partners.

Stay tuned for the final version to be released late January.
